You buy a new red Porsche and then all you see everywhere are red Porsches, we all find things like that happen in all areas of our life from getting pregnant and then there seem to be pregnant ladies everywhere to illnesses that break into our lives and take over. I am sure as everyday people most of us just know that Leukaemia, Myalgic Encephalopathy or “ME”, Diabetes and many other conditions just exist. When one of our family or friends are diagnosed with it we then find out all we can about the illness and ways we can help. This week is all about raising awareness about DIABETES do we know what to look for? Could someone close be suffering with this? How much fundraising has to be done to find answers about this condition? Let us all support and help in any small way we can, even if it is just buying a bracelet you are helping.

I have read and talked to people about MINDFULNESS over the last few weeks and it seems to be coming up a lot.

Now breaking into diabetes I believe it started overseas in the Mental Health area and some consultants are using the method and having good results. I guess you will not know unless you try it and like a lot of therapy it will only help some, not all I am afraid. Mental Health is another issue that people do not really know anything about until it affects them in one way or another, but even then there are some that find it hard to say let alone talk about. We need to make all these things less scary so our children grow up acknowledging different illnesses and accepting them not being frightened of them.

Have a lovely evening everyone xx

Young and old gathered today to see the Red Arrows demonstration, I was lucky enough to see it all from my garden. Some of them seem so close and loud as they fly over.

My granddaughters were very impressed by the hearts they formed in the sky. What a clear sky we had and lots of sunshine, bit of a wind blowing on the sea front but my garden was sheltered and lovely.

Kara popped round tonight and we watched Britain’s Got Talent and the winners were very talented and deserved to win. It was a shame one act was spoilt by a woman throwing eggs at Simon Cowell but was a bit funny and I did laugh at some of the egg jokes that appeared on Twitter instantly. Lol

I think that is pretty amazing. Thank you all so much xx

I thought I would put up a couple of the poems I wrote yesterday to see what you thought!

The rosemary lingers
Smells entwine
You can smell the wine
Apples so crisp and devine
The air is still
Summer has come
The nights are long
Goodbye to winter
You stayed too long

You play so quick
Darting here
I touch you there
You hide from me
You run and jump
Four feet in the air
You come and lay
Looking so sweet
I stroke your fur
You meow at me

It is amazing how a bit of sunshine can boost your spirits prompting you to do some of the things you have been putting off. I do still need to clean the windows though! I sat myself in the garden for a few hours and I changed the five minute play I wrote into a short story, it all seemed to flow very well so I am pleased with the result. If you have not read the play yet that I wrote then pop back a few posts and have a look. Feedback on the story would be appreciated.

We could hear the chatter from the coffee shop as we approached, knowing it would be busy on a Saturday afternoon helped us to blend into the crowd, even knowing we had a reason for being here together, I still felt guilty, no way was I going to act on this guilt though. I was going to have the best night tonight that I have had for a very long time.

Approaching the desk Steve asked if I wanted a latte, I wanted to scream at him
“No I bloody do not, I want a cappuccino like I always have it is your wife that likes the latte, I do wish that you would remember that Steve”. He gave me the sorry, sad eyes look and I melted and snuggled into his side. I loved him so much how I could be mad at him. I gave my reassurance at the beginning of this affair that I would never complain about his wife or the way he shared his time between us, it was so hard especially on special days.

I saw the seat become vacant so telling Steve I was over by the window I went and sat down. I loved pretending that we were a happy couple out for a coffee and shopping for clothes as we were going out tonight to the works annual summer ball.

I think I fell in love with Steve the moment I walked through the door of his office, tall, fair and so incredibly handsome that I just went to pieces and stumbled my way to the chair for the life changing interview. Steve asked all the normal questions about my background then telling me all about the company he had started from scratch and was now big enough for him to have a full time secretary, me!

The phone call that came an hour after I left the interview was going to change my thoughts and feelings on life for ever. He sounded so happy with a twinkling in his voice that I was to become addicted to. We arranged to meet at four at a tiny bistro in town, knowing about it but never having had the opportunity to go there we ended up making it “our place”

We sat and talked about the job and what he expected, it sounded like a doddle which I could accomplish in three days not the five that he was paying me for. As it was getting late he asked if I wanted to dine with him, so we could get to know one another, was how he had put it. The meal looked wonderful but I would never be able to remember the exotic tastes of the dishes that Steve ordered, I was smitten. Looking at his expensive looking watch he declared it was past eleven so he would drop me home as he did not want me walking home on my own. My mouth lost the ability to form words in the car so I just sat every so often glancing at him out of the corner of my eye. Stopping outside my town house he said how much he had enjoyed the evening and could not wait for me to start working for him the following week. As I moved to get out the car he lent over and putting a hand on my arm making me turn to look at him he gave me the briefest light brushing of his lips on my cheek. Once out of the car I turned, putting my hand up as a goodbye, he did not drive off until I was indoors and had shut the front door.

The affair started so slowly that it sort of became natural and right, the first time we spent the night together was at a luxury manor in the country, I had never been anywhere like it, he had booked us in for joint massages that were out of this world, there was nothing I didn’t love about this man. That night he held me in his arms and told me he was married with a daughter of fifteen! I felt like the room was crushing in on me but he still held me tight not letting me go until he had explained his life to me so in the end he didn’t have to hold me, I stayed in his arms and from that day I had loved him with all my heart. I lived for the day we would be together, knowing it was six years away was heart breaking but I tried to not think about it and enjoy the time together when we could snatch treasured moments.

Returning with the coffee Steve sat down, getting the contract out of his briefcase we went over the amendments quickly, saying I would type it all up Monday morning so they would get it Monday afternoon if I faxed it over. We both smiled at one another as that contract was worth half a million to the company, meaning a few thousand would be siphoned off for our life together in the future.

“Right, enough about work” Steve declared, in a low voice leaning towards my face so I could feel his breath on my face he asked me what I was going to wear that night. It was our first ball so very special, the setting was a large hotel with their ball room looking out over the beach with a door leading out as it was a private beach for residents only. We had chosen it together, sure that the loyal workers that we had employed over the last year would enjoy every moment of the evening. Whispering in Steven’s ear all I said was white, suspenders, backless dress! The intake of his breath was all I needed to know I had made a good choice!

Talking about the evening and where we were going to meet I asked Steve if his wife might change her mind about not going tonight, no, she has already told me that she is going to visit her Mum and Dad in Surrey for the weekend as she had no interest in going for a night out with employees of the company! Just then I noticed a group of teenagers sitting with their back to Steve as one of them turned round and spoke to Steve saying
“Oh! Hi Dad, so that’s where Mum is going tonight, to your summer Ball. We have been shopping for hours finding her the stunning long red dress and accessories, leaning in close to her Dad she whispered “even suspenders Dad, have a great night, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. I am going to stay at Lilly’s so no need to worry about me”.

The colour drained from his face slowly his eyes loosing there twinkling instantly, finishing his coffee he said goodbye to his daughter and walked out!

Ordering another coffee I sat knowing my time with Steve was over, he didn’t love me!

I just had to write a post about this as I have never seen anything like it, it is not April Fools day so it must be true. Have you ever heard of pink eggs? Or maybe blue eggs? I can imaging your answer is no, just like mine was. I mean, do they come from pink chickens or blue chickens? It all sounds very stupid to me, but this is the advert I saw in a magazine today!

20130605-085506 PM.jpg

So there you have it, you can get coloured eggs. How amazing, I want pink ones. Lol

It was creative writing today so I gave in my stories I had written, be interesting to get the feedback next week. We talked about poetry today and words that we liked the sound of, so for homework we have to create a poem from our nice words. I have never written a poem before so this should be interesting. I can only remember learning one poem at school and that was The Brook by Lord Tennyson which is a very lovely poem.

We are going to have summer for about a week here in the south east of Britain so I will be writing, reading and weeding in the garden so as to make the most of our summer. Lol

Very sorry for the lack of post’s over the last week but I really have been a bit busy with grandchildren, finishing the web-site and dealing with a few problems. I had trouble connecting the blog to the website but I have received an email today so I will crack on with that tonight and hopefully it can go live. I think the combination of a new laptop and Windows 8 and it being a few years since I have made a web-site that it has been very stressful and hard at times. If it all goes well tonight at least I will feel very proud of myself.

I have to share with you a phone call I had last night from one of my friends, she has two children, girl 14 and boy 10 they have an iPhone and iPad. The girl read on Twitter that you can make your battery last a lot, lot longer if you put it in the microwave, maybe some people would take the battery out and try it, not a good idea but anyway, the girl put the iPhone and iPad in the microwave and zapped them!!!!! Boy crying, girl grounded. Do the children of today believe everything they read on social media sites? This could be every worrying and I think there has to be more parental control over what and where they are reading and looking at the Internet. This is becoming so much harder to do now as they have internet on their phones so are not under our control as much. Once we got over the shock of what she had done we did have a bit of a chuckle and I think that will be one of the things that stays remembered for ever!

I am off for a pampering session later and hair cut so hopefully will feel full of beans after that and will crack on with my list of jobs.

Have a good day x

I can now say that the www.nannycool.com website is under construction and almost finished, yes, I am telling the truth. There has been a bit of swearing, good job I have been on my own today lol This blog will be linked to it so hopefully there will be some things you like on it. It will be a constant changing website and updated almost everyday, just hope I can keep up with it all!

Tomorrow there will be some sitting in the garden so hopefully the ideas will flow and I can write another short story. I must admit I would rather be on a beach like this picture!

Good night folks x

I have another granddaughter staying with me tonight, this is Izzy the bookworm who also likes writing. As her sister did a blog about her cooking Izzy has decided to do one about her writing and the things she likes. I hope you will all take a look as she gets going, I think her writing is very good for 10 years old but I might be biased.

I am getting very tired after my busy week so it is going to be a relaxing weekend hopefully sitting in the garden writing, as I seem to be bursting with ideas as not written anything this week. Good job the children go back to school Monday, not sure what I am going to do during the school summer holidays. Think I will have to set some days for writing and some for playing lol

I saw today that there is a Mind Body & Soul exhibition at Olympia in October so my friend and I are going to have a trip up to London on the train to see that as they are very good.

I wish there were some book or writing festivals happening here in the south east of England as we do not seem to get anything like that. Maybe some authors could do some talks here as that would be good to. Not even a writing group here but at least I have the Creative writing class and apparently they run about 3 a year so that’s good.

Have a Good Friday friends xx

How many people write letters these days? Can you remember when as a child you could not wait to start getting some mail, do you think the children of today think that way about an email? Does not seem the same to us and I think emails start popping up in a child’s first account as soon as it goes live, which will just be advertising. I think writing letters should be made compulsory in school as when everything is completed on a computer when they then get a job and have to actually write something their writing is atrocious bit like a doctors. Some things like a sympathy letter have to be written by hand so having the skills to know how it is set out and knowing the correct way to write things needs to be learnt. You can get so many lovely cards and letter writing sets these days and they are not expensive at all, I think the Nan’s and Grandad’s of today would love a little note from their grandchildren and it is something to keep and cherish.

I had to drop my granddaughter at the horse yard yesterday morning so I put my alarm on as she does not like to be late. I awoke to her ringing me and asking where I was! Pulling on Jeans and jumper I flew out the door, after picking her up and on our way she asked me why I was late? I told her it was the phones fault as I had set my alarm, she then picked up the phone saying nan the alarm always works, I was voicing my innocence. Looking at me with a rather exasperated look on her face she informed me that I had set it for Wednesday! (Yesterday was Tuesday) I remained silent. Lol

Why do we make such silly mistakes as we get older? Do we all have a bit of dementia in us and it just gets worse in some people? I never realise I have done something stupid until it is pointed out to me, I would just carry on in my own little world. Your as young as you feel, well, I do not feel young anymore but I refuse to be called a Granny. That really does sound old to me, what sounds old for you?

My daughter is going for her first scan today so hopefully we will know a clearer date as to when the baby is due, November seems to be looming up very quick. I have even started to get the Christmas presents as it will be a busy December with a new baby and a little one only 18 months and as she has to have a Caesarian she will need all the help she can get. xx

Are you all having a good half term those of you in UK, what have you been up to? x

My granddaughter the Cooking Queen has decided to do a blog like me so I have spent all evening showing her how to do it, once she got the general idea she was away. Lol I do hope she reads it properly before she post’s as teenagers today seem to just want to get everything done as quick as possible. I tried one of her chocolates and orange cakes today, it was delicious. I like the way she changes recipes and is not afraid to try new things. I wish her good luck xx

What a difference a day makes, children were down the beach yesterday in the water, today it’s jeans and jumpers! How bizarre is the weather this year, I have never known anything like it. My strawberry plants are just getting flowers on them, I would say that everything is a good 6-8 weeks late this year. Or maybe it will just be luck what grows and produces anything. I have found that the gardening has come second place to the writing this year, so I am afraid the amount I grow will be less next year and the garden more maintenance free, there will be more writing completed, sitting in the garden, in the sun, we can hope.

I am on Nanny duty this week and having them to stay one at a time so they get quality time with me! I will try my best to keep up with the blogging xx
