What is the fascination with these funny figures on book shelves in front of your books and you can get book mark ones as well?
Do you think it is right that an author charges people to come to their book signing especially when you have to buy the book for them to sign?

I feel the same as books are expensive when bought at signings or well known book shops so that is enough from us supporters. xxx

I am surprised that this did not stir up some authors. Thank you for your comments.

I don’t personally think it right that an author should charge the public to come to a book signing. I have to wonder though how many authors would do that. To me it’s much more likely that the venue would be the ones to make the charge so they can recoup the cost of bringing the author in.
Yes the author makes money selling books at a signing, but only what they would usually make anyway when a bookshop has ordered from the publisher. That would soon disappear if they had to stand the cost of getting themselves from venue to venue and maybe with overnight hotel costs. If the venue wants to bring customers in, it’s only fair they pay the author’s costs. If they should then recoup those costs via the public instead of through increased profits and trade is debatable.
