MANY VEGAN & VEGETARIAN CHOICES PLUS LOCAL BEER, WINE & CIDERS
I went here last week with Sheila, what a surprise to find a small place that is so FULL of ideas, ambiance, fantastic food, local drinks, homemade delicacies and a lovely couple running it!
This is the new menu, the different teas sound amazing so I am going back to try those. The selection is vast for a small place so there is something for everyone. The vegan and vegetarian selection is good and a bit different so you have a few things to pick from.
Sheila had the vegan sausage in a bagel and I had the brie and cranberry ciabatta, they were both delicious, I loved the presentation. The ciabatta was warm so warmed the cheese, I need to go back for some more.
It is a lovely place to just sit and people watch or read or even write, a local artist has their prints on the walls and I loved that you could pick a CD so you can listen to your favourite music. The fish on the wall is a novel idea as well. So many good points, I really hope they get the custom as this place needs to stay in Folkestone.
We had to try the desserts as it would be rude not to, lol. The vegan cheesecake was nice with the base made of dates and walnuts maybe with some fresh fruit on the top would have made it look more like a cheesecake but Sheila loved it. I had the millionaire shortbread with vanilla ice cream and that was delicious, I could just eat some more of that now. They make their own vegan ice cream and many other things.
The Hideaway is located at the top end of Folkestone town centre so it is really worth a walk up there. If you work in Folkestone then this is also a good place to go and get your lunch they also do a take away service. They really have thought of everything and I loved the place so you must try it and maybe say that Karen sent you.
The can of local cider was nice and I also presented Sheila with her winning book.
