Up on the hill looking down over the harbour you will find this restaurant, The East Cliff Pavilion, well two restaurants as one is the seafood and grill restaurant which offers A La Carte menu while enjoying the views sitting on the sea view terrace. This scene is amazing, I could sit here all day looking out over the channel to France. I am also just loving the glow of pink from the bar lights and those bar stools actually look comfortable. I am now imagining sitting there with a cocktail or two.

No expense has been spared on the renovation of this old building and it shows, I can envisage this being a good cabaret location or for dinner and dance nights. It would also make a lovely venue for a wedding reception again just like it was years ago, in fact my daughter had her’s there, such a good large area.

We did pick the worse day regarding views and outside terraces as it was raining all day. I did realise that the bar terrace would get the evening sunshine so that is going to be a gorgeous spot for a summer’s evening. The owner is very nice, he has worked hard on getting this just right. I spoke to him about doing a review and blog post so he offered us a meal and drinks on the house, you don’t get many that do that these days but I must say Folkestone looks after their own and we have some super owners of bars and restaurants here. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you and wishing you well.

What we had to share was exceptional with the whitebait being so tasty with just enough of a coating on them. Then the dip just finished it off with the crisp sharpness of it.  The portions were a good size and not many little ones.

The batter on the prawns was so light, again with a different sauce. Lots of good flavours going on, I felt a bit like that advert where bouquets of lovely tastes burst from your mouth.

Then the stable bread and olives, I must say I am a bit fussy with olives as I like them green, pitted with a filling and these ticked every box for me. I was very tempted to ask where they got them from. It was a nice change to have a red pepper hummus as I am not a lover of the balsamic oil which you normally get.

This was excellent, I would definitely recommend everything and I am looking forward to taking my family here.

So get booking for that meal and I may just see you on the terrace with a cocktail or two!

As this is on the hill where the snow gets it is often full of people and sledges in the winter, so what a super place to pop in to for the traditional hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream.

I am really liking this establishment and its location so please give it a try next time you are going out for a meal as I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
