DON’T MISS THE MOST UNPUTDOWNABLE THRILLER YOU’LL READ THIS YEAR!
Charlie Gallagher was a serving UK police officer for more than ten years, starting as a front-line response officer, then as a member of a specialist tactical team and as a detective investigating serious offences.
His books are a series of thrillers and, rather unsurprisingly, policing is central to the stories. The central themes are greed, ambition, corruption and addiction. Characters from both sides of the law will fall foul to their respective temptations.
WHAT DID I THINK?
I am a bit biased as Charlie lives in the same town as myself so have met him a few times, he also speaks at my writing group occasionally. BUT aside from all that, his writing is absolutely gripping, you will end up with bags under your eyes as you cannot put it down! This series about Maddie Ives is what true gritty crime is all about and believe me it does not get any grittier than these books.
Trying to solve these crimes is not easy, I even miss the clues, are there any? The team of detectives work really well and you can feel the support coming through the words, they really do have each others back. This I feel is the best book yet from Charlie, roll on the next one.
