Rachel Lynch grew up in Cumbria and regularly hiked the fells from a young age.
She studied History at the University of Lancaster and gained her Post graduate Certificate of Education at the Institute of Education, London.

She then worked as a History Teacher in London before marrying an Army Officer in 2001. ‘The Dependants’ was her first novel. Rachel spent twelve years as an Officer’s wife and moved her family ten times in that period. ‘The Dependants’ charts three fictional Army wives and how they cope when their husbands deploy to Afghanistan for seven months.

She is now represented by Peter Buckman, the Ampersand Agency and published by Canelo. Dark Game is the first book in her DI Kelly Porter series.

She lives near London with her husband and two children. Her husband left the Army in 2013 and they are now concentrating on being civilians. Canelo signed the first three books in the DI Kelly Porter series and Rachel is currently writing the fourth.

An investigation leads Kelly back to her former command… and the ex who betrayed her

A brutal murder in the Lake District.

A double assassination in a secret lab in London’s west end.

Seemingly unconnected, unexpected links between the gruesome crimes emerge and it’s up to DI Kelly Porter to follow the trail – all the way to the capital.

Back amongst old colleagues and forced to work alongside her calculating ex, DCI Matt Carter, Kelly must untangle a web of deceit that stretches into the highest echelons of power. A place where secrets and lies are currency and no obstacle is insurmountable.

WHAT DID I THINK?

There is nothing not to like about these books, I cannot get enough of them and they stop me from sleeping! I actually think that each one gets better and this latest one I really liked. It showed a bit of Kelly’s history at her previous job also her ex and what he was like so it gave you a better understanding about how she has changed and is really settled now in her home town with a new boy friend.

This story has a lot going on at different places but again very well written so not even I got confused. With more murders that must be linked it is up to Kelly to work out how and why, not an easy task as all leads are leading know where with her ex using every modern technique it’s actually Kelly and old-fashioned police work that comes up with the answers. Much to his annoyance, it was good when he headed back to where he came from.

Good pace with all that was going on, made this a pleaseure to read and I hope it’s not too long until the next book.
