A mammoth task was undertaken by the group East Cliff Creatives from Folkestone over the last few weeks with the completion on Sunday four hours ahead of schedule!
50,000 pebbles from the beach have been collected and then painted by the group and community, not an easy task.
The paint is environmentally safe which will wear off in time or be washed off by the sea.
Saturday they were taken back to the beach and placed into making seven poppies with the task finishing on Sunday. The Poppies will represent the seven months between the Armistice of WWI and eventual peace, with the signing of the treaty of Versailles on June 28th 1919.
What an absolute brilliant achievement and so moving to see this all come together on armed forces day in Folkestone. We also had the added enjoyment of watching the Red Arrows do their display which I must say was brilliant and very moving.
It was a fantastic afternoon spent wandering along The Leas with my family, Jodie and Kara pictured here.
