The sun was shining on this tranquil Sunday so I wandered over to the Five Oaks pub, sitting in their garden soaking up the sunshine drinking a shandy was to me heaven as the pass few days have been a bit manic.  A read of the Sunday paper and catching up with the terrorist attack in London, where it was now leading them to Dover which was a bit too close to home for my liking as I live about 15 minutes from the port!

I decided to have a Sunday lunch but I should have checked the size as it was enormous and no way could I eat it all.  I was served by the lovely Olly, who appeared just at the right time and it was so nice to not be rushed and he let me sit in the corner out of the way. All the staff were very friendly and dealt with customers really well as they were quiet busy.  The food was piping hot and all the dishes were large and there was a good choice so catered for all tastes.
This was my first meal in a pub in Jersey so the prices were a surprise to me, the half of shandy was £1.90 then when I had a rosè and soda with my lunch they charged me 10p for the soda I do not think I have ever been charged for soda anywhere at all.

As the roast was so large I could understand that being a bit more exspensive but I keep forgetting that I am in Jersey and everything is a bit more exspensive than back in the UK or even in Europe.

I thought The Indulgence Wednesday was a good idea to encourage people in midweek.
I will say that everybody appears to be so friendly which is nice when your a stranger on your own.  One old boy couldn’t understand why I was on my own and didn’t have a man in tow, I just told him I didn’t like them! Lol.
I also discovered that all the hotels along the front at St Helier that I remembered had all gone so no chance of me reminiscing with a visit to them. The island has changed and grown like everywhere else in the world. It makes you feel very old.

A nice stroll back in the sunshine to where I am staying and then relax.
Happy Sunday x
