MEET DETECTIVE MADDIE IVES IN THIS NEW SERIES THAT WILL HAVE YOU GRIPPED FROM THE EXPLOSIVE START TO ONE OF THE MOST SHOCKING TWISTS THIS YEAR.

Early Sunday morning, a rainy city centre. A ten-year-old-boy steps out in front of traffic. He is dazed, confused and barefoot. He is covered in blood. It’s not his.

Detective Maddie Ives is called out and finds the boy backed up against a shop front. He can’t or won’t speak. His face is a mask of shock and his whole body is tense. He’s ready to run again. He can’t tell her why.

WHO SCARED THIS BOY OUT OF HIS WITS?

Then a man is found brutally murdered, dragged to death. And Maddie and Detective Harry Blaker are determined to find out who is pulling the strings.

IF THEY DON’T STOP HIM, HE WILL FIND MORE VICTIMS. AND THE EVIL WILL COME CLOSE TO HOME.

HE WILL FIND YOU: The new heart-pounding thriller from Charlie Gallagher. Maddie Ives faces her most dangerous adversary.

Has been a serving UK police officer for twelve years. During that time he has had many roles, starting as a frontline response officer, then a member of a specialist tactical team and also as a detective investigating the more serious offences.

His books are a series of thrillers and, rather unsurprisingly, policing is central to the stories. The central themes are greed, ambition, corruption and addiction. Characters from both sides of the law will fall foul to their respective temptations.

He is inspired by what he does in the day-job as a police officer, though the books are entirely fictional. He is aware that the police officers in the books are not always shown positively. They are human and they make mistakes. This can be the case in real life too, but the vast majority of officers are honest and do a job in trying circumstances. From what I see on a daily basis, the men and women who wear the uniform and among the very finest, and I am proud to be part of one of the best police forces in the world.

The books are set in and around the fictional town of Langthorne. This is an area that is typical perhaps of many seaside resorts on England’s south coast: beautiful scenery, raw and rugged terrain and a dark underbelly. He lives on the coast in Kent with his wife and children and not forgetting the dog.

WHAT DID I THINK:

Charlie is up there with my very top authors, his books get better and better so if you like really gritty crime stories then these are for you. For someone that only takes three months to write his books, they are absolutely brilliant, goodness knows what his dreams are about! Maddie Ives and Harry are a good match and work brilliantly as detectives and they really get some gory crimes, always getting the criminals in the end. I can never predict what is going to happen as there always seems to be a twist.  This was not one of my favourites and I know Charlie did have problems with this one and it does show a bit in the middle its all a bit drawn out. I’m looking forward to his next one though so get writing Charlie.
