20140708-121524 pm-44124860.jpgI wanted to share with you a lovely story I heard while I was in Spain as I thought it was just a fairy story but then when you know the facts it makes you wonder!
Benidorm is set in a cove and right in the middle there is a small island, which is a nature reserve and has a cafe. You can get a boat trip over to the island and have a look round. I always found it amazing that what ever end of Benidorm you were the island was always in front of you.

20140708-121759 pm-44279164.jpgWhen you take a trip up the hills away from Benidorm you can see for miles and the views are amazing. Looking up at the mountain you can see a space in the hill, you can even stand in it if you go right up to the top.

20140708-121909 pm-44349781.jpgThe story goes that there lived a giant the other side of the mountain, he was a very happy man who lived with his wife who he adored. One day the fortune teller told the giant that his wife was very ill and as soon as the sun set down below the mountain then she would die. The giant was devastated and vowed to keep his wife alive for as long as he could. As the sun was going down that evening he carried his wife up the mountain to catch the last of the sun but it was going down too quick so the giant kicked the top of the mountain and a huge chunk fell away and flew down the mountain into the sea. Of course the giants wife did die in his arms and the giant died of a broken heart a few months later.

Scientists have measured the lump of rock that is in the sea and it is exactly the same size as the hole on the top of the mountain!

I will leave that thought with you, I think it is a lovely story but I do wonder how did the piece of rock get into the sea?

Hi Karen, I replied and then the computer decided to erase it and send me something I didn’t want. Oh the joys of the internet! Thank you for liking Richard’s interview. Say ‘Hi’ to Kent for me…We retired to Spain in 1999, so haven’t been there for years. We used to take our three lads there when small (from Essex). Benidorm gets a ‘bit of stick’ from us, so it made a change to read such a cute tale about it. You sound like a ‘fun lady’ so all credit to you. There’s nothing like humour to save our sanity in this bitter/sweet world of ours! I’m an eclectic writer and also love penning blogs. My husband says I was born with a pen in my hand…All the best. Cheers.
