MENTAL HEALTH MIND AWARENESS WEEK
We hear so much now about mental health stats and how more money is needed to fight this rising problem, which is affecting people from any class at any age. I still think that to get rid of the stigma then the name has to change, MIND AWARENESS is the way forward I think, what do you think?
They say that one in four will experience some sort of symptom and as this umbrella covers such a huge amount you can see why the number is high. In an ideal world each person should be assessed by a professional and not just given medication by a GP, I feel tablets are given out to easily and counselling too soon or too late as that can have a detrimental affect on the person at the wrong time making them worse. I have experienced this so know this to be true.
Do we use the word depression to easily? Children getting depressed because of their SATS tests at primary school or are they just a little bit worried/scared about doing a test as I am sure we all were if doing a test in class at that age. Are we just telling them far too much about testing, should it not go on their performance during the year and how they have progressed?
Money is the root of the problem there is just not enough for the NHS to keep up to all new and changing standards, it is obvious that much more money is needed as there are thousands more people now, we are living longer with far less deaths at any age.
I definitely thing that you should prove that you are a resident here with a NI number to receive care or you have to pay for it.
I do not know the answers but it is a growing problem like so many things in the UK.
Stay healthy and happy everybody.
