THE DIAMOND CAFE

The owner of this restaurant is really working to accommodate different tastes as during the day this restaurant turns into a diner where you can have your bacon butty or lunch. Then at five pm the lights and boards are changed also the tables moved around and it becomes El Diamante!

This restaurant has a nice feeling when you walk in as its very relaxed which it needs to be as it takes ages to decide what to have so a drink of pink gin and lemonade to keep you going is in order. Kara suggested we have one of everything, I soon changed her mind on that one. There really is a very good mix on the menu though and it took us ages to decide.

In the end we chose patatas al ajillo, queso de feta frito, queso halloumi, albondigas en salsa de tomate, garbanzos con chorizo and pollo frito con miel y mostaza. Plus of course the traditional bread and alioli.

That was the right amount for the three of us, every dish was cooked to perfection with its own individual tastes with nothing over powering. We did want the paella but it is a mixed seafood and meat one and Kara does not like seafood and it all comes mixed so that would be my only point to make I think they should offer both separately as well as together. The deep-fried feta balls and the chicken in batter with a honey and mustard sauce were my favourite.

They do a selection of desserts but have no menu for them but they were cheese cake, chocolate gateaux, lemon  sorbet or creme caramel ice cream. We tried the last two, I was shocked to see that the sorbet was in an actual big fat lemon and it was really lemony.

Both were really cold and refreshing finishing the meal off nicely.

I really enjoyed myself and will definitely be back to try some more tapas especially the fish ones as I love whitebait and prawns, I’m getting hungry again now, enjoy your food what ever you are eating

Nice review, Karen. Looked scrumptious. Not only is it an excellent tapas restaurant at night, but it is one of the best value breakfast spots in town.
