LIVING ON THE COAST

DSCF3719

Blue sky’s and day after day, week after week of sunshine has been unknown here for a few years but wow what a change we have had and it is glorious. It is so nice to leave chairs, cushions and furniture out in the garden knowing that it is going to carry on like this next week. I am sure people are smiling more! Warm weekends have been great for the children, I do think a few paddling pools have been bought last week. Lets hope it continues on during their school holidays at the end of July.

The pubs are doing really well as we have the football world cup and England are still in it! I have even heard of some pubs running out of beer, what a happy thought for breweries as they will be selling a lot more next week. I always know when we have done well in the football as you can hear cheering and car horns when they get a goal. There is a big screen down on The Harbour Arm and even though it is free to watch you have to get a ticket as it has been packed down there.

Barbeques are being used so much that you can smell the food cooking during the evening and the supermarkets are doing a great trade with all the meats and beer being sold. The kebab and marinades are making people be a bit more adventurous as the barbeques are being used so much.

Fans are in the shops for some to buy, even though it is hot during the day and evening it’s not hot when you sleep which is nice as I know sometimes in Spain you had to have the fan or air conditioning on all night.

The ice cream man/lady is doing a roaring trade and there appears to be a lot of new flavours in the shops, I still like the cookie dough ice cream the best though.

Summer dresses, shorts and t-shirts are the things being bought in the shops. So many good things happening just because the sun is shining everyday, I love it. The only bad thing I can think of is that my two water butts are empty so I am having to use my tap water so my bill will be a bit more this year but I am not complaining. Actually I do not think people are moaning about the weather so that’s all good, long may it continue.

Have a great weekend and I hope you get to enjoy the sunshine.
