As part of the HG Wells Festival there were many workshops and activities to attend as well as the writing competition that attracts a lot of entrants. This workshop I attended was run by Leah Thorn who is a truly lovely lady that I am pleased I had the pleasure of meeting.
The workshop consisted of many elements and it was amazing how they all came together in our minds and produced some amazing results. From fortune cookies to our own time lines I felt very driven back to my past but in a very distracted way so I wasn’t sad in fact a bit like I was looking back at someone else. In the end I came up with a poem, I am not sure if it is any good as who am I to judge but I enjoyed writing it and having the experience of this workshop with Leah.
The Fortunate Survive
Surviving the day before,
I didn’t think I would.
The crying came from nowhere
the tap had sprung a leak —– on and on
when will it stop?
My mind has lots of boxes all full and overflowing,
help me to control them —– I say silently to myself.
The boxes turn to circles all jumbled and confused
I think I need to sleep now,
can’t control the thoughts no more
Waking up to a new day
and seeing the sun,
I am full of hope and fortune
I have survived the day before!
